Life Group Locations

Here are the locations and hosts of the upcoming Life Groups:

Portage Group (Wednesdays from 6:30 – 8:00) will meet at the home of Mike and Linda Vitacco.

Endeavor Group (Mondays from 5:45-7:15) will meet at the home of Jarrod and Jenn Selbach.

Portage (rural) Group (Mondays from 6:30 – 8:00) will meet at the home of Matt and Larissa Graff.

Poynette Group (Thursdays every other week from 6:30 – 8:30) will meet at the home of Bob and Ruth Agnew.

Thank you to these families who have opened up their homes to host our Life Groups! Let’s “do life” together!

Family Sunday

Reminder that this Sunday is Family Sunday. We pray that you enjoy the service with your family. We will have age appropriate handouts at the back of the sanctuary. Please feel free to bring additional activities for your children. There will not be any adult supervision downstairs so to keep the River kids safe please keep them with you.

Greeter sign up this Sunday

It is time again to put your name on the sheet at church this Sunday only if you would like to be on the schedule to be a greeter for the next few months.  This is a great way to serve the church that leaves a lasting inpact on our guests.  If you can not be at church this week and would like to be on the schedule, then please email Paul at paul@portagechurch.org. Attention Small Group Leaders and Hosts - Training for YOU!

The Central Baptist Association is providing training for small group leaders at its annual meeting on Saturday, October 10^th at Rolling Hills Church in Platteville.  The annual meeting will take place from 10 a.m. – noon, followed by lunch.  The training titled “How to Be a Great Small Group Leader” will take place from 1:00 – 4:30 and will be lead by Rick Howerton.  Rick represents Lifeway Christian Resources and has a lot to offer in helping us develop a vision for how God can impact the Body of Christ through small groups.  Read more information about this event at www.cbaow.net.  Also, please call Amanda Miller at 608.825.9946 if you would like to reserve  a spot.  If you are leading or hosting a small group, we strongly encourage you to consider attending this training.  Questions?  Call Debbie Millman at 608.354.5804.

Daily Bible Reading

As some of you know, I sometimes do my devotion time in the morning by using the "Daily Bible Reading Plan" by the ESV.  I actually have my homepage set to that, so everyday its a great reminder to get in the word.

Let me encourage you to visit this page and even set your homepage to it as a reminder for you also.  One of the great features that I enjoy is the "Listen" button.  If you click this, it will read to you the Bible text.  For me, this really helps me read and stay focused.  It adds a whole different element to my morning reading.  You can also listen as you do the dishes, laundry, or whatever.

Please join us to invite 1000 of our neighbors to the Portage Harvest Party (hosted at River of Life Church). On Wednesday, September 30th at 6:00 we will be REVERSE TRICK OR TREATING!

Harvest Party

... On October 3rd, River will be hosting a Harvest Party for our community at River of Life Church. I am in need of some helpers who would be willing to help set up, tear down and/or make balloon animals, face painting, tatoos, run the games, snow cones, popcorn machine and serve hotdogs. Set up starts at 3pm. From experience, these Harvest Parties are soooooo much fun!!!! You will meet so many people from our community AND eat all the snow cones your little heart desires. Check out and see if your school has a Good News Club....if so it's a great thing to get your kids involved in. Plus they can invite friends to learn about Jesus at school. Pass the info on to anyone that might be interested or invite someone that might not be.
